Rocket Punch: Ring Ring Woollim Mall Merch Review

Woollim Mall continues with supporting and building hype around their artists' comeback promotions, this time with releasing merchandise for Rocket Punch's first single album Ring Ring. Woollim Mall announced on May 26th at 1:32PM KST that the Ring Ring official MD pre-orders would begin on May 27th at 12PM KST, along with the list of these products but no image preview. On May 27th at 12:13PM KST, Woollim Mall tweeted two special events surrounding the Ring Ring MD, which only apply from May 27th at 12PM KST through June 2nd at 23:59PM KST. Here are the two events:
  • ROCKET PUNCH [Ring Ring] POLAROID EVENT: 10 purchasers of [Ring Ring] MD will receive a random member Polaroid
  • ROCKET PUNCH [Ring Ring] PHOTOCARD EVENT: Each purchaser of Rocket Punch MD (excluding the lightstick, but not exclusively for [Ring Ring] MD) will receive 1 random photocard out of 6 for every 10,000₩ spent, with a cap of 12 photocards per order.
Rocket Punch 1st Single Album [Ring Ring] Official MD:
  • TINCASE & PHOTOCARD & CAN BADGE SET / 19,000₩ / $16.09 USD
  • STICKER SET / 14,000₩ / $11.86 USD
  • GRIP HOLDER & PHOTOCARD / 15,000₩ / $12.71 USD
One important thing to note is that these 3 product pages indicate an "ONLINE PRE-ORDER SCHEDULE" of May 27th 12PM KST to June 2nd 23:59PM KST, instead of "ORDER START", meaning that these products can only be pre-ordered within this time frame and won't be on sale after June 2nd. Additionally, the products will be shipped starting on June 15th.

The members had been tweeting pictures with the grip holder and tin case, starting with Yunkyoung on May 26th even before the MD images were released. After the product pages were released, I knew I wanted both the grip holder and tin case set because I'm a sucker for retro (especially LPs and cassette tapes and vintage phones), but felt that I could pass on the sticker set.

I decided to order from Kpoptown as I have been with Woollim Mall merchandise to bypass Everline's ridiculous shipping fees. The downside about going through Kpoptown this time would be forgoing the photocard event from Woollim Mall, where my purchase would qualify for 3 photocards. The GRIP HOLDER & PHOTOCARD set was $17.90 USD while the TINCASE & PHOTOCARD & CAN BADGE SET was $21.90 USD, with DHL shipping of $21.00 USD.

I placed my order from Kpoptown on May 31st. On June 3rd at 2PM KST I checked the inventory at Woollim Mall, and as expected the 3 products were marked as "sold out" since the pre-order period had passed, and at Kpoptown the grip holder was sold out while the tin case and sticker set each had 1 left.

The product pages on Kpoptown stated a June 16th release date. I contacted Kpoptown through their Customer Service email template on their website on June 25th asking for a status update, and they finally shipped out my order a few hours after my inquiry.
I received my package on June 29th, in a small cardboard box. My items were stacked together and packaged in several layers of bubblewrap. I'm really happy with how well packaged it was.
Here are the items from my order. To my pleasant surprise, Kpoptown did include one of the exclusive photocards from Woollim Mall's photocard event!
Here is a close-up of the photocard. I got Yunkyoung! The photocard has a glossy finish.
Here is the backside of the photocard, white states "Ring Ring / Rocket Punch / The first single album Ring Ring".

TINCASE & PHOTOCARD & CAN BADGE SET
The tin case is white with a matte sticker on the lid representing a cassette tape. The dimensions of this case are about 3" by 0.875" by 0.8125".
The case came in a clear resealable bag with the product information and holographic Woollim seal on a sticker on the backside. This sticker is unfortunately on top of the resealable part of the clear bag, so I had to use scissors to cut on the edge to avoid damaging the sticker.
Here are how the contents look inside the tin case.
At the very bottom is a foam pad to insulate the photocard set and badge.
Here are how the top and bottom of the tin case look like, along with the badge and photocard set. The badge and photocard set are each in their own respective clear resealable bags.
Here is a closer look at the can badge. The design is a closeup of Rocket Punch's punching glove soaring toward the sky like a rocket, along with the text "Ring Ring" and "Rocket Punch". The badge is about 1.75" in diameter.
The backside of the badge is all metal and can be attached to fabric via the pin.
There are 7 photocards in this set, in order first with Yeonhee, then by age, and lastly the group photo. All images are from one of the album photoshoots, and none of these images were included in the album photobook.
The backsides of the photocards have the members' printed autographs, along with the original Rocket Punch logo that generally wasn't found within the Ring Ring album. These photocards are made of matte cardstock.

GRIP HOLDER & PHOTOCARD
The griptok and photocard come in a clear plastic case.
Here is the backside of the packaging. The photocard is at the very back.
Here are the contents of the packaging. The top contains the griptok stuck on a piece of cardstock, followed by the griptok film to be placed in between the griptok and phone/case, and lastly the photocard which comes in a clear resealable bag.
Here is the photocard. This image isn't included in the album photobook or exterior poster. It has the same matte cardstock finish as the photocard set from the tin case set.
Here is the backside of the photocard.
Here is the backside of the griptok cardstock, which contains the instruction manual in both Korean and English, along with the holographic Woollim seal and product information. The manual states that there are 3 stages to the griptok, that it is meant to provide stability and easiness to grip, and can be used as an earphone strap or horizontal stand as well.
The griptok design is just so cute! It looks like a spinning record and has the album information in the center, really giving off that nostalgic feel that matches the song and album concept. There is a smooth, glossy finish which gives off a pretty shine.
The griptok originally comes in the second stage. If extended to the third stage, the griptok is about 0.9375" tall. The face of the griptok is about 1.5625" in diameter.
The backside of the griptok has a white strip of tape used to stick onto the cardstock. Remove that, along with the circular film, to reveal the adhesive and then immediately stick the griptok onto your desired location. I plan to preserve my griptok, so I'll keep the white strip of tape as is, tack the griptok back onto the cardstock, place it back into the clear container, and display it on my shelf. I'm sorry I won't be showing a complete review of the griptok in full use!

Overall, I'm really happy about my Ring Ring merchandise! The retro look of a record as a griptok and a cassette tape as a tin case are both really cute, and both items are quite practical. Realistically I'll be preserving both items on my shelf rather than bringing them out for daily use, but if I had spares of these two items, I wouldn't mind using them as they're both cute and lowkey kpop (as in I can bring this into the workplace without garnering random questions). I wish the sticker set also had cute packaging to match the retro theme, but overall the variety of merchandise for Ring Ring is perfect, with a mix of practical and paper goods and a great representation of the concept.
