Theatre Plus Magazine 2022 (Golden Child Y) Review

Golden Child's main vocalists Y and Joochan have continued expanding their musical resume in 2022, and it even includes Y in a featuring within Theatre Plus' June 2022 issue! I would like to thank my friend for gifting me this beautiful magazine while she was in Korea^^
This month's magazine had an interview with both Y and Pentagon's Jinho to discuss their time in musical "Midnight Sun".
There is even a cute photo of the two within the table of contents.
And here is the beginning of the duo's pictorial! It contains 8 pages.
These are such beautiful shots of Y!
And mirroring the previous layout, here are two pages for Jinho.
And the pictorial wraps up with another group photo.

Overall, it's really exciting seeing members of Golcha trying out other fields and showing their talent and potential in so many capacities. I personally really love musicals so it would be especially fun seeing a live musical starring a Golcha member...but anyways, it's also fun having articles like this where we can see concepts different from albums^^

1st Look Magazine Vol. 243 (Golden Child Jaehyun and Bomin) Review

It has been quite a busy summer for Golden Child, from releasing their second Japanese single RATA-TAT-TAT to successfully completing their 10-stop US tour to performing at London's MIK Festival to making their long awaited Korean comeback as OT9 with 6th mini album AURA. And to add to that, Jaehyun and Bomin have a feature within the 243rd edition of Korean entertainment and lifestyle magazine 1st Look from August 4th, 2022.
As usual, this magazine is made of slightly nicer quality than a nice newspaper, and is large with dimensions (if held vertically) 10.25" by 15.25".
Here is a glimpse into Jaehyun and Bomin's segment titled "ANOTHER ME". (My Woollim stan heart is lowkey thinking about Sunggyu...)
Bongbom's segment includes 8 pages, starting off with this beautiful 2-page spread of Bomin.
I am in LOVE with both of these photos. I'm just so speechless!
I like that majority of bongbom's pictorial is large, high quality photos, and here above is the only text^^
Bongbom's segment finishes off with one last solo shot of Jaehyun, and 2 photos of Jaehyun and Bomin together. They looked absolutely perfect in all of these photos, I'd love if 1st look or the boys could post even more bts photos from this shoot^^

Overall, I didn't think I could love Golden Child even more but this magazine has proved me wrong. This really came at the perfect timing too, with Jaehyun and Bomin constantly top of mind ever since Golden Child's US tour and then a few weeks later having official physical content of just these two^^ This is probably my most favorite photoshoot by far!

Men's Health Magazine January 2022 and Theatre Plus Magazine January 2022 Review

My friend has graciously blessed me with a magazine haul during her trip to Seoul in January^^ I'm especially grateful as she trekked through the brutal cold to many stores to find these~ January was a great month for magazines with Golden Child's Daeyeol on the cover of Men's Health and Infinite's Sunggyu on the cover of Theatre Plus.

Men's Health January 2022

Daeyeol as Men's Health's January 2022 cover model, he is the second Golden Child member to be on the cover following Jangjun in November 2020, and he and Infinite's Sungyeol are the first brothers to have been cover models for the magazine. But above all, I believe this is the first magazine shoot outside of OT10 shoots for Daeyeol, which is very exciting for Golden Child's leader to have his time to shine especially when he has to enlist soon...version A is on the left while version B is on the right.
I really like how the spine of the magazines even state the cover model with "골든차일드 이대열". I don't really see this with other magazines often.
Interestingly enough, version A came with a really nice fitness desk calendar for 2022. And if you look back at the cover photo above, printed on the bottom right corner of the magazine is a callout stating this calendar freebie (whereas when I look at this magazine online the text in the bottom right corner matches my version B).
Here is Daeyeol on the table of contents, along with cleaner versions of both cover photos. Both versions have the same exact content, except of course for the cover.
And here is the start of Daeyeol's pictorial! His section contains 12 pages.
I cannot get over this photoshoot. I am not one for exposure (as I had learned from Jaehyun's teasers for YES. and then again for Game Changer) but these photos are seriously a work of art. The fog, the lighting, the shadows, they all create such a beautiful backdrop for our cover star!
Just look at the confidence and power that Daeyeol exudes!
The action shots like the one on the right are especially stunning.
Seriously cannot get over this new side of Daeyeol!
At the end of the article, Daeyeol demonstrates his workout. It's really cute how they have actual photos of Daeyeol doing each step.

Theatre Plus January 2022
Sunggyu is the cover star of the January 2022 edition of Theatre Plus! The cover already looks like such a fun and joyous shoot, contrasting heavily with Daeyeol's covers. It's nice seeing Sunggyu's further growth in his solo activities and his musical career as we wait for OT6^^
Here is the beginning of Sunggyu's pictorial! It contains 10 pages.
Gyu is too precious here! And here is one of the two pages dedicated to his interview.
I love how many different vibes this one pictorial gives, from fun to serious, and how many different photoshoots are comprised of this.
I am in love with the bubblegum photo - it's like an upgraded version from his 27 photoshoot.
The last page has a beautiful black and white photo along with another page of the interview.

Overall, I'm so happy to have these magazines! Both show such great growth (Daeyeol having a solo pictorial and Sunggyu advancing in his musical career) and give such different vibes. And Sunggyu's is a great reminder that enlistment doesn't mean the end of the world, and that Daeyeol will be back soon enough^^

Indeed Magazine Volume 2 April 2019 Review

I'm happy to be able to have one last post for 2021, all thanks to a surprise gift that arrived today^^ I'll be blogging about the magazine Indeed, Volume 2! This post isn't so much of a review of the magazine as a whole, more so me fangirling over Jaehyun...

Indeed is a Korean fashion trends magazine that began in late 2018 and currently has 15 volumes (numbered 0 through 14) as of the end of 2021. Of these 15 volumes, Golden Child members have appeared in 5 volumes, starting with Bomin in Volume 1 (this being the first solo magazine shoot for any Golden Child member) and then Jaehyun in Volume 2. Volume 2 in particular is also Jaehyun's second solo magazine photoshoot. I've admired the official photos released online from this volume since its first release, and I'm so happy that I have a physical copy in my collection now.
My magazine came in a clear resealable bag. The featured cover model is NU'EST's Baekho; I really like how there are few idols in this magazine and they each get quite a few pages.
I really like the size and feel of the magazine! The dimensions are 9.5" by 6.75" by 0.25". Here you can see the magazine (in between Game Changer and YES.) is about the same thickness but slightly taller than Golden Child's Pump It Up, YES., and Game Changer albums. The magazine cover is matte and slightly thick, like a paperback book, and the pages inside are matte as well like a notebook.
Here are the table of contents, with Jaehyun on the far right^^
And here is the start of Jaehyun's pictorial, titled "Denim". His section contains 10 pages. The time when he had really long hair~~ Aah he really pulls off this look SO WELL and I really don't like denim on denim but I'm all for it here, he just looks so cool!
I was a bit surprised that the photo on the right is out of focus...as much as I love artistic creativity, there is only so much real estate in this magazine that I'd want the highest quality photos^^
Official photos from Jaehyun wearing this outfit were never released (that I know of) so I was shocked when I first turned to this page! I honestly thought I had already went through all of Jaehyun's pictorial but omg wow these photos are so pretty!
Another thing that I like about this magazine (at least this volume) is that it is heavily focused on photos rather than text. For someone who isn't fluent in Korean, this is perfect so that I can make the most out of the provided content.
And here are the last 2 pages of Jaehyun's pictorial.

Overall, I'm beyond satisfied with this magazine! I love that Jaehyun's pictorial used 5 different outfits that displayed his versatility as a model in how he interacted with his surroundings and his clothes. I hope Golden Child continues being featured in magazines to showcase a different side of themselves^^

Singles Magazine October 2021 Review

Golden Child is featured in another magazine! This time Jaehyun and Bomin are featured in the October 2021 edition of the fashion, beauty, and life magazine Singles.
Jaehyun and Bomin's segment is titled "Share the youth" and contains 8 pages.
There are 3 bongbom photos, 2 individual photos of Jaehyun, and 2 individual photos of Bomin.
These are my favorite photos of the shoot, along with the individual Bomin photo on the last page! I love preppy uni look^^
I love how much dedication went into this shoot, like with how Bongbom have different outfits for every photo. But with all that dedication, I wish they could include more photos with each outfit^^

Overall, this is such an elegant pictorial, and the preppy uni concept here fits the fall weather perfectly! I love seeing Golden Child as models and am looking forward to seeing what concepts their future pictorials will have!

1st Look Magazine Vol. 223 Review

Golden Child is once again booked for a pictorial! Y, Jaehyun, Jibeom, and Bomin are featured in the 223rd volume of Korean entertainment and lifestyle magazine 1st Look from August 5th, 2021. As usual, this magazine is made of slightly nicer quality than a nice newspaper, and is large with dimensions 10.25" by 15.25".
Within the table of contents is Golden Child's segment "The Play of Sunlight".
Golden Child's segment includes 8 pages. There is 1 large photo per member.
There are these paired photos. I love the Y and Jibeom set; they look so playful! These outfits are different from those worn in the individual photos.
Here are the remaining individual phoots.
And lastly are 2 group photos and the interview. The left photo is the same as on the table of contents. The boys are also in different outfits here than the previous photos. I wish there were more up close photos in these outfits; I love the retro academic vibe they give off!

Overall, I really like how refreshing this pictorial is! Y and Jibeom haven't had many opportunities to be featured in magazines compared to Jaehyun and Bomin, so this group of members is nice (not to mention my top 3 being included^^). I just wish there were more photos! My favorites are the ones of Y and Jibeom being playful; it'd be nice if Jaehyun and Bomin had photos with this feel too. With Golden Child's Game Changer promotions in full swing, I hope they can continue with the various content such as more magazine shoots!

Tenstar Magazine June 2020 Review

Golden Child's gag duo Jangjun and Jibeom have had quite the schedule together in June! They had a featuring in Tenstar magazine's June 2020 issue, were a part of the panel on "King of Masked Singer" and also advertising nail products for brand Dashing Diva.

Pre-orders for the June issue of Tenstar began in late May and were quickly sold out on many places online, so I lost hope in trying to get a copy for myself. But then while browsing for where to pre-order Golden Child's Take A Leap mini album, I saw that Ktown4u still had Tenstar in stock and it included the 5 photocards! I ordered on June 14th and within the same day they shipped it out. Because there are delays with Korea Post due to Covid, the only available options were UPS and DHL. The magazine was under $9 USD and the cheapest shipping (UPS) was about $20 USD.
My magazine arrived on June 16th wrapped in several layers of bubblewrap with a larger bubble insulation on top to fill the space inside the sturdy cardboard box. Overall, I'm really satisfied at how quickly Ktown4u shipped it and how well packaged the magazine was, a great relief when I've never found a company I could fully trust.

I usually don't order magazines online unless if it's a really good deal or if I'm pre-ordering something else anyways. But this magazine was really special - a whopping 26-page featuring along with the cover dedicated to Jangjun and Jibeom, along with a set of photocards. I know oftentimes magazines come with such goodies, but my purchases usually don't include them, so I'm really happy this order did!
And here's the beauty~ The magazine came wrapped from the manufacturer.
The set of photocards came in a resealable clear plastic bag inside the wrapped magazine.
They say they're photocards, but they're really postcard sized! These postcards are really high quality with a matte finish.
The backsides have printed messages from the boys. Jibeom's message on his 3 cards are the same, and Jangjun's messages on his 3 are the same as well.
There's a cute page of Jangbeom on the table of contents.
And here is the beginning of Jangbeom's 26-page feature!
There are three photoshoots.
Here is Jibeom's famous "shielding my eyes from the light" pose~
This outdoor shoot is my favorite of the three!
Model material right here; Jibeom looks so good in this style, and he's back at it with a striped shirt^^
Wow Jangjun looks so serious and mature here!
Here is the sporty photoshoot. Jibeom looks so soft with that baseball cap, especially with the pink accent!
That statue reminds me of the one in "Wannabe".
I'm running out of commentary...but anyways they're cute and pull off the sporty look well!
Jangbeom really are model material.
They are too cute and playful together!
The last four pages show behind-the-scenes photos. These two pages show shots from the sporty shoot. The one with Jibeom holding the hoop behind him is too cute, and Jangjun dramatically holding the basketball!
The final two pages show behind-the-scenes photos from the remaining two photoshoots.

Overall, I'm so proud of Jangbeom for having such an extensive feature in a magazine! These two haven't been featured in magazines often, but they represented Golden Child so well and really put on a great cover and article. And again, I'm so happy to see 26 whole pages dedicated to the two, and for the magazine to include the postcard set! I can't wait to see what else these two have in store~!
